Last minute gifts

It's a week before Christmas. I know how did that happen?! Hopefully you have most of your shopping behind you, but if you don't, fear not I have some thoughts for some fun gifts for your home, hostess gifts and maybe even an idea, or two, for a special someone on your list. I of course love and covet items for the home, but realize that while many may appreciate these things most would never think to put it on a "wish" list. As odd as it may sound, I love giving holiday decor as a gift. They are especially great for a hostess gift this time of year. I will often admire new holiday items in a store or catalog but won't necessarily buy them for myself as it is such a specialty item and a hard purchase to justify. I absolute love it when someone gives me a new platter or holiday mug to use this time of year. Holiday tableware is one of my favorites and here are a few of my favorites for this season:

Mark and Graham have some really fun plates this season. What I love about both of these sets is the pop of color they provide and the fact that they are great for not only Christmas but because of their classic pattern could be used throughout the year as well.

Another place I love to find some fun holiday fare is Crate & Barrel. They always have some fun whimsical mugs or plates and find their holiday lines to be some of their best. This years winners for me:

The best part is that many items are currently on sale and if purchased by 12/19 will still arrive in time for Christmas!

Another part of the home that receives a lot of attention this time of year, the guest room. It's time like these when you might take stock in your guest quarters and do a little refresh. Whether it be new towels, linens or a bouquet of fresh flowers it is the little details that truly make guests feel at home. If you were looking to create a new look for your space, a great way to make a big impact without too much strain on the wallet is a new headboard. Yes some can be expensive but there are so many affordable options to choose from these days. I found this great upholstered headboard on Joss and Main. The pattern and shape are fun and a little unique and could go a long way to making any space feel like a true retreat.

Another great gift idea is a yummy throw. It's getting cold here in the Northeast and what's better then snuggling under a great blanket. They make a great hostess gift and are also a great idea for those couch surfers on your list as well. I like the casual and cozy qualities of this cotton throw from Dash and Albert.

It comes in four great neutral colors and is a great accessory for any room or decor. Best part at $80 it is a gift that won't break the bank.

Happy shopping to all!
